Our mind is a battlefield and we control who wins the battle and takes control of our mind. It takes intentionality and discipline to 'seek the things that are above' and 'set our minds on things that are above.'
Colossians 3:1-2 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
We are constantly under attack to focus on things "below", things we face and deal with everyday. From social media to TV, to music and articles we read, we are encouraged to focus on ourselves and indulges our desires.
Or how about this...Have you ever had a dream you enjoyed that seemed so real, that you were disappointed that it wasn't when you woke up? I have. Even things as seemingly innocent as that can wreak havoc on our minds.
So, how do we discipline our minds to focus on Christ and things above?
Colossians 3:6 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. {emphasis mine}
There's the answer, we make Christ our life. We give it all to Him, the good, the bad and the ugly. We get alone with Him and pour out everything that is in our hearts and on our minds.
It isn't always pretty, what we pour out at His feet, but that's ok! Christ wants our hearts and can handle the junk we sometimes leave at His feet.
Remember...
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Jesus already knows what's in our hearts and in our minds and He still loves us! So why not willingly release it to Him?
Walk in His freedom and set your mind on things above.
Colossians 3:10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its Creator
